Stolen gear prevention tool?

This just flashed past me on Facebook. Maybe it's useful? I know there are a lot of folks on here who have suffered gear loss to theft.

I've heard about guys that hide a smartphone in their cases or inside the bass drum so if it gets stolen they can gps locate their stuff.

It appears to require a $20/month 'subscription'... Online app login does not appear to be secured by SSL. I hate to be a downer, but this appears to be a poor attempt at monetizing something that is already free.

When you don't properly secure a site like this, you put tools in the hands of criminals.

I lost some gear a long time ago. It doesn't happen to me very often.
