In the fall of 1986 I listened to my first CD at an electronics expo in Detroit. I bought a Teac CD player "with corrective summing algorithm" that day. Within two months I sold all my vinyl to a second-hand record shop and have no regrets about it. From as early as I can remember, my family moved a couple times per year and by the time I dispatched all that weighty vinyl I'd lived in several over 70 dwellings. I was so tired of schlepping that heavy, scratched, noisy, pitted vinyl, that when the opportunity arose to get rid of it, I didn't wait long.

Once the Apple Airport Express supported 48kHz/16-bit optical output, all my music (from CDs) was copied to a central server (60,000+ tunes). So now, instead of 8 milk crates full of heavy, scratched, noisy, pitted vinyl, I use a small plastic box to store my scratch-less, pit-less, light-as-a-feather, noise-less tunes.

I'm so old.

I like the look of that Synology sound bank. I have a 200 CD disk jockey where I store all of my Beatles and Oldies CD's . Not as portable as your machine, but still all in one place.

The pic I didn't show was the two file cabinet drawers filled with CDs.

And I save only the best printed materials and/or CD packaging. It's nothing even close to holding and viewing an LP jacket & sleeve, but there's some good designs & pics nonetheless.

This is my wall full of CD.s and DVD's, plus the 200 CD's in the Sony Juke box. And I still have many VHS tapes of the Beatles.
