John Good Interview

I love listening to John Good, when he talks about shells, it's like he is talking about good old, red wine.

Personally I think they sound good, not terrific. Especially if I look at the price... For the price of a collectors I'd go for steam bent shells with Yamaha hardware instead.

Im not a big DW drums fan, tho have to love John Good, what he's doing and how passionate he is about it all.

I own a set and have to say it is an aquired taste as far as the sound goes. They are FAR from boxy and tune up well. The shell notes to me is not what you have to tune to, all this concept is is that you are getting a series of drums that are in my case already 4ths apart, period, you take it from there. The hardware changes the note anyway.

I think their lugs are thin and cheap and the bass drum spurs are awful, lightweight and loosen up. It isn't the only kit I own but still play them I have no regrets.

Yes, John is a salesman but he's taken shell technology in a very interesting direction.
