Matching a Pintech Concertcast snare to a Roland TD-7 brain

I recently picked up a TD-7 for a practice kit until I work out the kinks from a 16 year hiatus. A friend loaned me his Pintech duel zone snare, but it is giving me some issues. I can’t get the TD-7 module to recognize the rim zone for starters plus the closer I play to the center of the pad, runs the risk of false triggers from the snare itself. And, too close to the rim and often I get no trigger at all. I have tried everything in the manual I can think of, including the auto configure mode where you hit the pad 3 times soft and 3 times hard, and it sets the Max and Min Dynamics plus the Threshold, and a few others. And I'm getting some very weird results. Anyone have any ideas what I might try?
