Default PDP Snare QC question

I recently got a PDP 6x12 Concept Steel snare drum. Black chrome. The first one I got seemed wonky. Turned out it was fractured all the way through the shell, and had a bent throw off system. Ok. Bit of a drag, but I got it replaced.

The replacement drum has really weird looking snare beds. They look unfinished/half-hammered to me. The snare strings get caught in the valleys that aren't centred. My guy is contacting his DW/PDP rep to see if this is normal. I doubt it is. I will put 2 pictures up here and I would love your opinions on if it is ok or not. I am starting to wonder about the quality control. Granted, it is pretty inexpensive, but I am not about to blow money on something that is potentially this shoddy. I am not sure about the sound. The snares seem hard to get completely flat.

Anyhoo... here are the pictures...

It is exactly as it looks. Thatís totally messed up. PDP stuff for the most part is pretty solid and well made, but the every once in a while...Iíd definitely be pitching a fit with that one.

Yeah that looks terrible. I agree with AZHeat about the every once in a while, but two duds in a row? I'd be screaming refund and buying something else.

Here’s what it’s supposed to look like:

Here’s a Gretsch with a deeper snare bed:

Thanks! I had difficulty finding a good shot earlier. One of those has a great view of the PDP. It is very smooth. I will be forwarding this picture to my guy.
