I'll jump in here . . .

My social, credit, and bank account numbers are

hahahaha

I'm reading a book on security engineering. Also looking at some papers on parallel processing algorithms using graphics processing units.

And, of course, listening to some jazz (Ian Froman), thinking about what piece of gear to purchase next . . . . it's gotta be the overhead mics.

I just wanted to "like" your post . . . but, thankfully, this isn't Facebook.

You might have to reference the values by assigning them a local name, copying them (more or less) for whatever calculations you're doing with your anonymous class member functions. Of course, I'm making all this up right now . . . I'm a novice C++ programmer and I have no idea what you're working on lol

Dunno whether it's going to rain and wash out tomorrow's gig.

If we play it's going to be a different since I'll be playing percussion while the guy who's been filling in for me while I've been dealing with all the home stuff.

Hoping it comes off because our singer tells me the guy has strong time and refuses to budge when the lads start straining on the tempo leash.

But how can that possibly be, with no click involved?

As for abstract, I wish my friggen' headache would subside. 4 bloody Nurofens and still no relief. About to pop two more and if that doesn't cut it, I'm gonna get pissed and drink the bugger into submission!!

Lol

Why didn't Marcus Wright get a bit suspicious when he woke up after the world ended and suddenly had red vision and a HUD display?

It would be great to jam with another drummer.

I played in a few cool drum circles, but never on a stage with another drummer or percussionist.

I had a drum off with someone before at a show. It wasn't scripted, we were setting up our kits on seperate stages, started soundchecking and we just started passing phrases back and forth taking it further and further.
The crowd increased so fast and they loved it!

It was kinda cheesey really but me and the other drummer had a great time.

I's love to try double drum grooves, often thought about layering beats on our recordings somewhete but, hate the thought of it not being possible live without another drummer or a backing track...

That sounds like a cool spontaneous jam. People must've liked it a lot if you drew a crowd. There are a few cool videos on YouTube like that. Saw one with Gavin and Simon trading chops at a Guitar Center Drum-off or something.

Good point, if you put that stuff on an album, your adoring fans will expect to hear that live too no doubt. It's more than just over dubbing a hi hat beat hear and there.

I know, I always thought drum battles bored people. They went crazy, was an awesome feeling and something i've never dared do since.

Your right aboutthe dubbing. You really don't hear acoustic drums dubbed and layered on records. Guitarists think nothing of it, even if they can't so it live alot of people just accept it. there's more acoustic drums and dj/techno man setting stuff off and even backing tracks with breakbeat fills and loops but no double acoustic.

Obviously the size of two kits is a problem but, seens as I haven't tried recording layered drums I'm thinking maybe it's like dou le tracking bass, it just doesn't work or you need a seperate range and tuning for each kit?

I MUST do this now!

Git 'er done. I'm sure if you play with a click you can find a way digitally perhaps with an acoustic sound.

It's not really the timing I'm worried about as I record to a click. It's getting all those layers to sit well with each other and not muddy the same frequencies but STILL sound like 2 acoustic kits and no ridiculous tunings.

We're recording loads of new songs at our studio, if I see a place where thisnidea would sound good I'll give it a shot and I'll post it on here, see what you all think.

Maybe us drummers just haven't been ambitious or adventurous enough in the studio when it comes to layering. Or atleast vocal enough about wanting to try stuff.
I find other musicians get to try loads of stuff, why can't we?

Alas, the gig's been washed out. There's been too much rain. We were supposed to play here again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIGPb7-Lfjs

Would have been interesting to play percussion with a good drummer. I was planning to bring djembe, bongos, maracas, guiro and bicycle bell ... come to think of it, snare with brushes would be a good addition.

No cowbell.

I could afford a Black Beauty or SUpra but I dont feel like I am good enough to go into a store and buy one. Want to get my singles to the point where the average person would be impressed if I played them rather than where they are now....

Man have I looked at them in the store and considered it a thousand times (a day). My teacher has a Supra collection and its torture to go there.

Exercising some self control for once. Is this stupid in my case? Just dont want to be that guy whos gear is WAY nicer than his skills.

I think you'll find that's English 'arse'. I'm glad that our former colony in the Southern Hemisphere prefers the correct spelling, nevertheless.

Thanks Andy. Yes, the grounds are beautiful. It's about 90 mins drive from Sydney. The guy who owns the property lends it to a breast cancer fundraising community event every year. The music is pretty well an afterthought but it's fun.

The event itself is bizarre - it's called Back to Back, where two teams compete to be the first to get the wool from the sheep's back to a jumper (US: sweater) - the first shearer to put the jumper on wins. So there's shearers and spinners and knitters going like the clappers. All very rural.

I normally an arse gal, but for some reason calling someone an asshole seems lighter and a generally less grievous accusation than arsehole. After all, an ass is a donkey.

I am hoping that the City of New York is stocking up on 16 ounce cups and containers for cola. Since Mayor Buttberg wants to limit the size of cola to help with the obesity problem. They will need to buy 2 16 ounce cups since the 20 ounce will be outlawed. Its nice to see that the Mayor of New York has all of the important issues prioritized. Reminds me of the forum members signature that says, " if I need a bigger M&M, I'll just eat two.

Seriously goofy pic, Bon. If I was going to play percussion with a 70s rock band, I'd bring a nice big cowbell. The kind of percussion that would fit with a lounge group is maybe not in my cowbell skillset, which for the most part consists of doink doink doink

Henri, no plans. Hopefully this winter we'll record some more songs and tidy up some of the old recordings.
