Default Damping Drums

Guys, a newbie type question... how do I "dampen" my drums down (old Pearl Maxwin drums)? I have a 4 piece & the two toms are quite "boomy" or echo-ish (if you can understand my vocabulary). I have a pillow stuffed in the bass drum that has got me the result, now I need to achieve similar with the top & floor toms.

Apologies if this has been asked before but I did a search & couldn't find my answer. Thanks in advance.

First try different tuning. Both heads. when all else fails, google the Drummers Bible.

Use smaller pillows for the toms.

No.. for real. You can use gels but Remo Rings or Aquarian Studio Rings (same product, different companies) may be cheaper than gels. Go to the Evans site. They have lots of tuning tips and tuning videos you can learn from. Aquarians site also has some tips.
