i tried to play it by ear and failed miserably. i really love the sound of it, and it would be perfect for this part of a song in my band. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah, if you consider the main beat/tempo to be where the snare backbeat is landing on 3 rather than 2 & 4, then the rhythm, counting 16th notes, is " & a 3 e & a 4 & " and the sticking, with the left-hand accents on the snare in a larger font, R R L R R L R L .
edit: funny, when I try to put extra spaces between 4 and &, and between the last R and L, it won't post that way...
