So does this mean that what we are hearing is a blend of mic'd drum and sample together? Or is it separate depending on situation, i.e mic sounds for one song and samples for another?

I knew you 14" deep guys would not disappoint. That's a good thing. I was stoking the fire a little there and the responses were great! Well said and not an insult leveled from anyone. Well played sirs. Good feedback!

I could’ve said, “deep bass drums are for sissies!”

Yup, and i could've said big drums are for full sized adults. I guess we'll never know what might have been said ;)

Someone posted some photos of Ludwig's NAMM stuff on the Ludwig Drum Collectors Facebook group. They are professional photos; I'm not sure how he was able to scoop Ludwig.

Highlights from the photos:
-a set with wood hoops all the way around
-a 110 anniversary badge on some snares
-new snare drum options (metal shell / finish)
-new finishes (of course)
-and the return of the baseball bat muffler on some wood snares, perhaps a new Jazz Festival model (no names on the photos)

Ludwig also posted some photos to its official Facebook page. I noticed:
-a set that featured two add-on concert toms
-I'm pretty sure a pink Neusonic is on the way (this surprises me, as Ludwig can barely keep up with the existing four Neusonic finishes)

There will likely be more once the show gets cranking away.

Pretty sure JR is playing North drums now. He bought Billy's old set.

Yeah, sounds like pics from the new brochure. It's a 12pg booklet featuring 110th Anniv items and other new stuff for 2019.

Indeed, it's coral, and it sound great! The Neusonics are the hottest kits Ludwig has right now.

Actually, those Ludwig guys are already posting pics of their booth on Facebook. One even featured a video walkaround.

I so want to like the Neusonics, but I can't get past the spurs. Those things are never going to work for me. (Or for most drummers, I would suspect.) Damn shame too.

It's too bad that Ludwig will not accommodate slight changes requested by the buyer. For example, I actually contacted Ludwig about having the modern Ludwig telescopic spurs put on a Club Date bass drum. They responded with a curt, "No." So, I passed on the drums and bought a C&C Player Date, since they would, in fact, put on the spurs I wanted.

There was a time when Pro Drum in Hollywood could order you the drums of your choice, without mounts or spurs, and then they would install what you wanted on the kit. I'm not sure if they can still do this if manufacturers, like Ludwig, won't even allow themselves to do it as a special order. Those were surely the golden days of drumming, I guess. The last time I saw them do this, a customer ordered this pretty purple stained Gretsch kit, and they installed Yamaha spurs and tom mounts on the bass drum. I remember back in the 90s, they built me a bass drum with Slingerland lugs, and I had them put Pearl SP30 spurs and a Yamaha mount. It was so nice to be able to do stuff like that.

Probably not ideal, but maybe you could've gotten the NeuSonics, then plugged the spur mount holes, and then re-drill for the spurs you wanted.

Ludwig is certainly entitled to do that, however there are some items that aren't on display, so they wouldn't have revealed much at this point. The booth won't be final until tonight, and I'm sure there'll be a complete video and more photos after that.

I know, but they did change the hole position slightly, and the kick sits a little lower now.

Recently in the Signet thread, I posted a fix for the original spurs. :)

At his live one man shows there is always just a littled blended in. But it is a synth not a sample.

From what we have seen, Ludwig is off to a rosy start.

The puke green snare with gold hardware caught my eye instantly. Sometimes beauty can be found in the ugliest of things.

Really? I never understood the Desire for complication. That system, the Rogers DynaSonic, and Tamas King Beat.....I always felt that they were a test to see how good you were on the job when the system broke unexpectedly ;)

I was told on the factory tour that supplies of Super Sensitive parts has run out. It didn't sound like Ludwig has any interest in bringing it back.

That being said, Ludwig will probably announce a commemorative Super Sensitive seven minutes after I post this.

That's just it; It is far simpler than regular strainers. You don't need to mess with cables, or straps or strings - no issue with aligning the wires so that they're the perfect distance from the edge or that they're not pulling skewed. It's genius! The only reason I got rid of mine was that no one but Ludwig made replacement wires, and they were really expensive to replace.

I used mine on the road back when I was playing six nights a week, with a matinee every Sunday. Never had a problem with it at all. It sounded amazing too.

Kinda surprised Ludwig is introducing a new Neusonic color given how whisper quiet the response has been. Very very few videos on Youtube since launch last year, I've been paying close attention since I was interested in a kit at the time. Maybe they're planning a surge of marketing this time instead of just a few videos at its release. I like the concept of no-nonsense drums and I really want them to succeed.

Don't think the Neusonics got a whole ton of press period.

Happy for you, I know you love your LC's and the new oak hybrids seem like they will be priced in the same range as the maple hybrids.

So that would make the tour customs yamaha's only mid-range kit ?

I think the phenolic ply refers only to the shell's structure, as in woodworking a phenolic back is basically a plastic resin that backs a sheet of wood veneer.

Let's wait to hear them.

The Neusonics are a hot seller for Ludwig, they can't make them fast enough! The coral kit at the NAMM booth sounds fabulous. If you played all of the lines with your eyes closed, you'd take those home. I was going to nab those but another drum aficionado (who's also in the industry) already bought them.

Turns out the cheaper is the sleeper. :O

I get the feeling that Sabian going with a new logo at this point is going to cause a fair bit of backlash. The ensuing poo-storm will be entertaining to watch, I suppose...

Yeah, seems like Sabian were dipping their toes into the water with the 2018 Black Friday special AAX Concept Crashes, so I'm sure that'll play into those new models.

People will get over it, just like any logo change. It took me a while, but I'm used to the new Promark logo. I'll always miss the old "Yellow Submarine" font logo, but as long as the end product is just as good, it shouldn't matter.

Yeah they're using the hammering style that's on the Concept Crashes. Here's the new models:

That price is before the typical 40% discount from most retailers, so they're no more expensive than the others.
