I'm assuming you mean belt or strap drive pedals when you say "cloth drive" - plenty of people use them - I have two: a Yamaha 9500 that came with belt or chain option and I always use the belt, and a Sonor Perfect Balance. Belt/strap drive pedals aren't "old fashioned" - people choose them over chain drive pedals because of the different feel they have.

Yeah, nowadays we use a kevlar strap. Who ever heard of using cloth? That's a new one. How old are you?

Im a geezer who likes to modernize old drum gear. I discard the things that I don't like from my vintage kits and I update them with modern things that I do like.
Here are a few of my vids that better explain what I mean.

Some purists hate me for what I do but at my age I just don't care what others think anymore. That is part of the charm of growing old! :)
my advice is to keep what you like but try new things to see if you do like them.

Actually not all of them use kevlar straps, a number use nylon straps. I use a nylon strap on my DW9000 pedal.

Also WAY back in the day they were leather straps.

I'm not old and use strap drive pedals, and I have a speed king as well.

Old or not you are going to have to get rid of pedel, pedels, and peddles and use pedal and pedals.

What you said! I thought all us old guys still remembered how to write complete sentences. Did Common Core exist forty-four years ago? I'm not raggin' you, ImTombstone, I just can't understand you.

He might be Klingon. Sounds like Klingon. :D

Regarding the cloth drive pedal, I don't think it's about being old, just being happy with your existing gear. I'm 50 this year, started drumming in '77 and I'm now using Axis pedals. You just gotta go with what feels right and performs best for you.
