Default thread to hip people to little known drummers

As the first drummer to "Hip people to", I nominate the great New Orleans drummer, James Black. My favorite James Black tune is There's a break in the Road, by Betty Harris.

Check him out. He's awesome!

Mark Teixeira, Duke Robillard's drummer since about 2002.

Incredibly swinging drummer; and a great guy.

He also has a solo record out.

If anyone gets a chance to see Phil Hey I highly recommend they check it out his live shows. Phenomenal jazz drummer that would hold his own with the very very best of them. He plays regularly @ the artists' quarter in St Paul, MN, plenty of videos online for sampling.

Mark Richardson of Skunk Anansie... great rock drumming, good feel, does not overplay in an otherwise very busy band.
