Am I doing something wrong, here?

Okay, I'm a new guy here on this forum and I seem to be confused.

On other forums (for various other things) when you click to read a thread, you can see the original post. When reading here, I click a post that interests me and the first thing I see is a reply to the original post - NOT what the first person originally posted.

Root around in your preferences- there's an option for changing the order of comments.

Never understood why it's set that way by default. Never seen any other forum work that way, so people just tend to get confused and annoyed by it.
