From Gary Chafee's website:

After 41+ years of teaching, playing and basically living the drums I have decided to retire. It has been a long and mostly interesting road. From my first teaching gig at Western Illinois University, to my years as head of the Percussion Department at Berklee College of Music, followed by a couple of decades of touring, giving clinics and performing with various groups all over the world, it's time to hang up my sticks.

Well best of luck to him. Great teacher, I need to get more of his stuff. The video on Phrasing is very good.

I had the pleasure of meeting Chaffe when I was at North Texas he was very inspiring. The kind of teacher that could show you enough in 5 minutes that you could spend the rest of your life working on. I spent alot of time with vol. II of the patterns book.

I am grateful to his legacy and the great books he left behind. I can't even begin to think of all the great drummers that he taught over the years.
