my old heads are ludwig (remo) stock heads and i want to change them. i have little information on heads. i'm into the punk genre like blink 182. AT guitar center, all ec1 coated heads are 77% off and thats an awesome deal. i'm hearing that coated emperors are good but i also hear smooth white emperors are also good for punk. i'm using stock heads as resonant. so which gets that punk sound naturally?

Hey man! Punk sounding drums are reall focused and short in sustain with a lot of punch.
I'll give you a little run-down of good punk heads. I'll recommend some reso heads if you're interested as well.

Toms
Batter - Remo Black Suede Emperors (Great Sound for heavy hitters)
Resonant - Remo Black Suede Ambassador

Snare
Batter - Remo Coated Emperor-X (super durable and super thick) -or- Remo Coated Controlled Sound (same as the Emperor-X but not as thick, and cheaper)
Resonant - Remo Clear Ambassador Snare-Side (pretty standard)

Kick
Batter - Remo Clear Powersonic (BEST KICK HEAD I HAVE EVER USED!!!)
Resonant - Remo Ebony Powersroke 3 with a port hole (or any Powerstroke 3 for that matter)

Ther you go, these combos are really nice for a focused punk rock sound.

Happy drumming!
