Depends, do you want quantity or quality?

I have a Roland TD4KX, it's the same one you mentioned, but a couple models back. I love it. Here is the just of it: I have never played on an Alesis kit, I have played on a Yamaha DTXexplorer a little bit and it was OK, but not the one you are looking at.

If you want quantity: Go with the Alesis. It has an extra tom and cymbal. How ever I don't know if Alesis hold up or not.

If you want quality: Go with the Roland. It has all Mesh heads (which are awesome) and Roland products are durable.

As far as I know yamaha stuff it ok to good. It only has 1 mesh head, and 3 rubber pads. The only advantage it has over the others is the "electronic high hat" instead of the normal pad and pedal that the other two have.

Bottom line, I say get the Roland
