I can't get a decent rim-shot sound

My batter head is cranked pretty much.... with hald of my strength ( not my weight... ) i can only make a small dent into the middle where i place my fingers,/palm/whatever

I tried to tune my snare drum myself, took it to the teacher of mine, because i felt it sounded like garbage, and he practically turned every lug about 2-3 turns... and even before that, i was afraid breaking the head - Im newb!

the resonant head was tensioned even more. Just tension the shiet, and try to hit with a lot of power, bot rim, and head at the same time.

If you want a loud sound, hit with the stick on the middle of the drum. If you want a lower more cracking sound mebbe, try hit closer the edge of the rim you hitting.

If you find your leg getting in the way, try to raise the drum :) Im sure it will work out some time.
