Thanks for sharing and taking the time to teach. I'm not at all a stick trick master but the video was interesting and you put a good bit of time into teaching each trick. Perhaps in the future when you have been on this forum for many years, reach the 3rd Eschelon and speak clear English with no detectable accent you will be better received.

This is exactly what many were speaking of on the "where is Deltadrummer" thread.

WOW!

I'm gonna say something very "un-Pocket like" here and I'm sure it may shock a few.

I don't do any stick tricks.....hell, I can't even twirl.....just never bothered. There's waaaay too many other things that I can't do, that I really need to learn and that I find more beneficial to me......than tricks.

But that said, I thought that that trad. grip, 'stick down through the fingers' trick was exceptionally cool!! So cool in fact, that I just may have a go at it myself.

Stand-by....I'll report back on my progress in 10 or 20 years. :-)

Hey Guys...thanks for taking the time to answer and check the video out... please take this video with a grain of salt...

Since we can do few tricks we wanted to share what we know...and I put this title on the thread in order to make people put attention on it...and as a result some of you answered...so the goal was achieved ;)

oh, for the english, I am italian and I know my english is not perfect, sorry.

Playing drums has to be fun. Both for you and the listener...in certain situations tricks are cool and makes you look cooler...so why not learn the trick just in case you need them? ;)

I completely agree! If you check the other videos of the Drum Brother, you'll see that we are trying to practice all kind of stuff....

(For all who don';t know, the Drum Brother is a documentary about a studying experience, every week an episode comes out where we explain what we practiced the previous week ;)

here it is the latest episode for you to check out...tell me what you think :)

Hilarious. I was reminded of this after my group played in Europe, and I had to announce some French-titled tunes. I thought I was doing OK with the accent, until I heard a recording of myself, and I sounded basically exactly like Brad Pitt's "BON-JORNO".

Hey man, I watched the stick-tricks vid and then watched the latin one, and the jazz one and a couple more! :)

Nice stuff you've got right there, and it looks like you're having a lot of fun doing what you do, which is awesome. Cool vibe. Congrats.

Haha.

Cheers.

Drummonster88, thank you for sharing your in-depth discussion on these tricks. Helped out alot. You broke it down to a level that I could easily understand. Thank you for that. And please donít listen to these non-appreciative fools that are jealous of your technique.

I can't condemn using tricks on stage its all part of the show..after all I wore zebra striped spandex in the 80's..Thanks for the tricks..I have always done the simple twirl you showed but am eager to add the first trick - the triplet trick using base of stick.. I have tried this with very limited success in the past but was trying it with a single stoke roll..looks like using the triplet is the trick..

Alessandro :)
I loved the vid...well done and informative.I do believe some of the giants were stick trickers and twirlers.I don't recall seeing Buddy Rich twirl but he did do some stick tricks.Gene Krupa,Lionel Hampton,Papa Joe Jones,Carmine Appice,Dino Danelli, and really too many to name were and are great drummers and stick trick guys.As long as your playing dosen't suffer and the trick becomes the gig,I'm all for a little added showman ship.

Hey Steve! thanks a lot!!

That was exactly our aim..show that a drummer must be not only a MUSICIAN, but an ENTERTAINER.. playing drums well while making people enjoy your show ;)

you have to be complete ;)
