Default Mixing samples with acoustic kit

One of the guys in my band has a great old drum machine that give the drop bass lows like the 808 did. This thing rattles the whole studio and sounds great. I have been considering implementing this into my kit as an effect but I am not quite sure how. I am thinking a trigger maybe, but I am not sure it I would then need an extra drum to mount the trigger on.

Anybody have any ideas or have you seen this done? Trying to think out of the box a bit and get creative.

Have you ever seen Stanton Moore play live? He uses an LP pandeiro on his left mic'd with an audix d6 underneath . I thought it sounded just like that 808 bass drop sound.

Roland SPD-S is the shizzzzzzz. Plug it up to the PA. Put any sample, sound, bass drop you want on it, or use a preset drop. Hit it. It plays. Win.
