Default Re: soundproofing

sound proofing is rarely ever considered 100% except in the most extreme of
conditions IE: anoic chamber which is debatable of it's 100%-ness

But the good news is you don't need 100% noise block
A 5% reduction in db sounds half as loud to the ear.

If you get down to 50% reduction in db you're doing good
for studio and band practice.

There are lots of resources just google sound proofing.

The basic idea is it takes mass, space and de-coupling to
help reduce the transmission of sound from one space to another.

RWAR (room within a room) sitting on a sand floor,
with double insulated walls, mass loaded vinyl, hat channel, green glue sandwiched between two layers of 5/8" sheetrock
and double solid core doors ...

now your talking soundproof....but probably still not 100%

constructing a soundproof room could easily cost you $10,000 +

I looked this company based on another post.

http://www.soundproofing.org/

It was from a fellow who had built a near perfect studio and then Johnny Law him to take it down because he is didnt have permit. I called the company and they guy asked me who, what, where, when, why and then sent me to another site, said he didnt want to take my money because what I needed, he didnt have.

Very straight forward, good guy.

IT come from Brundlefly's thread. It is one of the most helpful threads on DW.
