Default Any other road rats ever do this?

I have been uploading charts for about four hours today when I cam across the chart for the song "The Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion from the movie "The Titanic". I played this song every night for about a year and had actually renamed it "The Fart Will Go On" with some pretty salty lyrics to go along with the title. I also must add that the Chick singer didn't like my "creative title" or my alternative lyrics, which made it only funnier to the rest of the band as they would be going thru our heads while she was singing it!

While I have to admit I was really tempted (by the fruit of another) to name the chart with the alternative title on the upload, I had to remember to never post anything on the internet that you wouldn't shout across a crowded room. The other temptation was to put "as sung Celine Dijon" in the description. Probably should have; it would have gathered more hits!

So all of you road rats, did ever make up funny lyrics to songs that you were playing every night for a year?

No, Not Me, I never did that! Lol

I used to play an original tune with a band called "Pop Charts"
I changed it to "Pop Tarts" and had all kinds of dirty verses to sing to myself as I played it.

I WOULD DO THAT ALL THE TIME. IN ONE BAND THE GUYS IN THE BAND LOVED MY SONGS SO MUCH. (I JUST REPLACED THE LYRICS TO COVERS) HAD ME COME OUT FRONT AND SING THEM. (IT WAS A COUNTRY BAR) IT ENDED UP TO BE THE HIT OF THE BAND AND WE ACTUALLY USED TO PACK PLACES. IT WAS RUDE, AND PEOPLE LOVED IT.

The Pill is Gone (a blues jam staple)
I Want A New Rug (Huey Lewis song for the 50+ crowd)

Do the same thing with "artists". Captain Toenail, Urethra, Moron 5, and so on.

Sometimes it gets written that way on the set list.

Yes, but most of them aren't really forum-friendly. The less-clever ones involve substituting the word "ewe" for "you", which gives you hilarious things like:

I Love Ewe
I Thought About Ewe
Ewe'd Be So Nice To Come Home To
Getting To Know Ewe

Ha ha ha. A few others:
I Hear A Rhapsody = I Took A Crapsody
This Can't Be Love = This Scant Be Love
New York, New York = Newark, Newark
I Cover The Waterfront = I Water The Cover Front (???)

It's not exactly a high art.

From many years ago, Desmond Dekker; "I woke up in the morning, had baked beans for breakfast & my ears are alight". Go check out the original lyrics.

I've been on the road in Zappaish bands that had lyrics like "The Fart Will Go On" as the actual lyrics, so yeah.

One of the songs my band plays has the lyrics "it's so damn dark right where I sleep.." and one night while playing it someone mentioned it sounded like he said "it's so damn dark right where I pee..." so now every time we get to that part all of us start laughing.

my lil bro has done a few , but i cant remember any off hand except for a take on the tigger song from whinney the pooh called "the wonderful thing about boobies, is boobies are a wonderful thing". one thing we did do was take a load of song names and alter them for a metal music themed resturant my guitarest wanted to open up.

here are a few examples
devils driver -the fury of our makers hand/ the fury of our bakers cake
cannibal corpse- stripped, raped and strangled/ stripped, raped and crep'ed
the black dahlia murder/ the black dahlia burger

we have way to many to list lol

We used to have a kid that sang lead for us and he could never remember the girl's name "Sharona", so he just kept saying "scrotum" as a joke. The crowds loved it and it became a staple in our list of covers. So, now I can't listen to "My Sharona" anymore without hearing "My Scrotum".

Backstreet Boys 'I did it my way' is much more fun singing 'I did it sideways'

We do a medley of fifties stuff that includes a section that goes "Great balls, great balls, great balls, great balls of fire!" After the second "great balls" someone always yells "Thank you very much!"

Tiny Dancer:
Should be: "Hold me closer tiny dancer"
I sing: "Hold me closer Tony Danza"

Boulevard Of Broken Dreams:
Should be: "I walk alone, I walk alone"
I sing: "I wore cologne, I wore cologne" (in a british or aussie accent, the two sound almost identical)

No mention of " 'Scuse me while I kiss this guy"...?

Back in high school we played the Bond theme Goldfinger in marching band, and the entire drumline made up dirty lyrics and sang our version, "Cold Finger" during practice. Then some of us made up words to My Adidas by Run DMC & changed it to "My Big Penis". Lotsa laughs from that one on the buses during band trips.

I used to love doing this with my last band.

"Other side of the glass" became "Up inside of your ass"
"Sever off and cast away" became "Sever off and castrate"

Had a couple more but they get dirty. We also learned Purple Haze and just for kicks our singer would actually sing "Scuse me while I kiss this guy".

There's actually a website devoted to mangled lyrics. They take there name from the famous Hendrix line.

The Beatles "Gotta Get You Into My Life" turned into "Gotta Get You Into My Wife"

"In the Mood" turned into "In the Nude"

"Mercy, Mercy, Mercy" became "MRSA, MRSA, MRSA"

Fun game: Take any song title with the word "heart" in it, and substitute "butt"

Examples: Owner of a Lonely Butt, My Butt Belongs to Daddy, Buttbreaker, etc.

Great way to pass the time on the tour bus

"Out there there's a baby
waiting to be had
you think I'd let it call me dad
you've got another thing coming"

A few from my Jazz band:
- Duke Ellington: Satin Troll
- Frank Sinatra: Fly me to the Poon (not sure how well know that slang word is internationally), but if you're British you'll probably get it)
- Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers: Gnome'in
- Charlie Parker: Lady Boy
- Sigmund Romberg: Softly as in a Morning-Wood Rise
- Kenny Dorham: You Tossa! (best said in a heavy cockney accent)

It made it all the way to the states! That is hilarious, now I will think of that every time I hear that song.
