Default Can a mediocre drummer start silly/pointless threads on Drummerworld?

There. Someone had to say it. So I said it.

Agreed, not environmentally friendly.

the most entertaining ones is the silly ones, for example
"Which instrument is the hardest" Or "Traditional grip vs Matched grip, which one is the best?" I always read every post in those threads (and post some of them myself) even though it's silly questions its great fun to read what arguments people come up with.

Then again I'm someone who used to discuss that the difference of taste in fat pancakes vs thin ones exist for a whole hour and take the question really seriously :)

Yes. It's somewhat still a free country.

Yes.

On a side note, i kind of agree with dazzle. I love reading through "what's your (irrelevant) opinion on ______?" "Am i the only one who thinks _____ is/are overrated?" Threads. It's a bit immature, totally pointless and I think DW is above dedicating threads to that kind of unfounded judgmental bias. But on other sites, it's hilarious.

Then again, i like watching bad Idol auditions on the toob. .. Schadenfreude.

Which country are you referring to?

And evidently they can start silly threads because enough of them have in the last week.

I don't know why you put a smiley face at the end of that. There is a considerable gastronomic difference between thick north-American style pancakes and thinner, french-style "crepes". Plus, dutch and german pancakes are sort of in between. They are all great, with their own distinctive qualities. Seriously. Quite seriously even.

Every time, yes he does it every time. A short, dry one-liner to put everyone in their place. GruntersDad is like a cross between a moderator and a terminator - a moderator! Ah, wait... yes my jokes are even worse than my drumming.

I am a mediocre drummer and I was thinking about starting a thread last night. It was going to be about what I was watching on YouTube. It was the the 2013 Modern Drummer festival's Young Drummer of the Year finalists. I think it's cool seeing kids tear it up on the drums. Anyway, they did 3:00 minutes of solo, then they all did the same 3:00 minute song. What I thought was the most interesting aspect is how each kid interpreted the song. Like drummer number one; he wasn't the craftiest on the solo part, but his groove and song interpretation was one of the better ones. Top two or three. He took a mediocre song and made it sound very good, whereas some of the better soloists couldn't do much for the song and it just sounded like a run-of-the-mill B-side filler song.

It's amazing what the right feel and beat/groove can do for a song.

My mistake, I meant to be in agreement with your post.
Apologies for not being more clear. :)

Can any one post anything to a drum blog with a straight face... C'mon. What's next drum blog fascism? One thing I've noticed is annoying though is how narrow of a view people choose to take on what drumming is, especially for a forum called "Drummer World", I take it many peoples world ends at their basement door.
