Default Seth Davis Drumming (Update)

Hi fellow drummers of drummerworld,

It's been a while since I shared in the drummerworld community, or updates
with drumming in general.. So I thought I'd come by, say hello, and share some new material and updates for those who are interested and follow my contribution to the art.
I hope all of you are reaching and exceeding your drumming goals in 2013 and are healthy and happy.

I have a new you tube channel which you're all invited to come by and subscribe as well as new material and a new website being released soon. Most of my work (for the past year) has been dedicated to my up and coming website and online material.

My new you tube channel - www.youtube.com/sethdavisdrumming

Included in the new videos are my new drum set along with musical performances. (Released every week.) My website when launched will have free insights, video library, weekly blog and much more. I will share a warm up video before I did the musical performances as well as the first clip here with all of you. I hope you enjoy and am always here to help you further reach your endeavors. Drums, whatelse...?

Thanks guys,

I'm glad you enjoyed a bit of the new stuff.

@uniongoon - It was one of my favs to write to and perform as well.
The strumming guitar 6/8 hit me when I first heard it and knew I had to at least "try"
to apply that 6/8 afro-cuban* groove we all know to it.

Then into driving heavy 4/4. I liked the section in 5/4 towards the end, which eventually leads back into the 6/8 to reinstate the theme of the song. It appears on the feet in one of the upcoming tracks. I've used this groove as a foot ostinato during solos.

I've always favored using this groove in rock. It is quite similar to a double para-diddle, but has the clave feel on the left foot due to only single taps being played on the left side. Has a "lilt" to it instead of being such a straight laced 16th note feel. Grooves harder imo and relieves the monotony.

The warm up video was on my new set with one mic capturing the sound.

Good job restoring your Signia's. Nice drums.

This song is straight ahead, no odd meters, and is a good example of playing for the song.

I tried to punch up what the guitar solo was doing at times but always stayed focused on letting it breathe and groove. A few embellishments here and there but never intrusive on the guitarist or vocalist. Quite a bit different than the first music video.
