Eric Carr KISS miniature replica Crazy Nights drum set

In 1988, I made from nothing a model kit of the Eric CARR huge drum set from the Crazy Nights tour. A massive Ludwig full of chrome set with Chikara symbol. I met him after the KISS show in Paris and gave him as a gift. It was an amazing afternoon spent with him, he was very very sweet.

Now, 27 years later, I'm a professionnal model maker and a KISS fan asked me to make a new one for his personal collection... So, the adventure starts and I invite you to follow the work in progress here

All the parts are made from scratch, I create everything.
It's the first time since 1988 that I make a new drum even I always dreamed to make another one.
I made a lot of stuff in my various jobs but as 1/4 scaled, I also make guitars and basses that you can see here. https://www.facebook.com/mylittleguitar/

And before starting to show you the work in progress on the drum, I want to share 2 last pics
Another cool stuff, when I made the first model kit, I wasn't really aware about how Eric's drum set was really. I was just watching again and again the Video tapes (yes dvd didn't exist at this time) and guess which toms and cymbales he used. So, I told him and he kindly wrote his complete set on a paper... and as a bonus, the original ticket of the show (signed by Eric on the other side)

And as reference to the real size, I'm gonna put the KISS CD "Chikara" and a pick given by Bruce Kulick in 1988 and one of his guitar that I made in miniature too.

First, some pics of a stand, the different parts and the stand assembled.
It works like a real one. it's made of 12 parts. I'm actually casting and painting the various parts... I hope to finish them soon...

I need to make 20 for Eric's drum set.
Next step will be to mold the different parts and cast in resin then paint with a chrome finish.

That's awesome man, being a KISS geek Ive seen those pics before. Great work!

I'm back with some new stuffs...
The tom holders almost finish, missing the key to tight the angle of the tom.
If you look closely, I write on each to which tom is it. I'm finish the ones for the Simmons Electronic pads.
More close views of the tom holders soon...

I'm a big KISS fan so this is awesome to see. Amazing work.

The pictures with Eric look familiar. Were they ever in a magazine?

I gave the pictures to Gene Simmons in 1992 during the Revenge tour in UK, then he used some in the KISS My ASS video tape and on the big KISSTORY book.

Although I'm not really a KISS fan I saw them on this tour in 88 and Eric Carr was a phenomenal drummer for them, sorely missed

When I retire I want to look into doing this stuff ha ha

This kit would be great to build, also Lars kit from the Black tour, Alex Van Halen's, the list goes on ha ha

Eaztiti,

Again, remarkable work. Could you post a few pics and information on exactly how you make and use the molds you build in order to cast these parts. I find this art form very interesting. Would love to see exactly how it's done!

Since the Asylum tour in 1985, Eric added some SIMMONS electronic drum pads on his set. Those white ones were used during a part of the Crazy Nights tour 1987 - 88.

I didn't post for few days, working on boring stuff, little parts to do, waiting for the paint chrome and looking for the best way to make some part.
So... here's some WIP of the inside of the drums, all are now done, need to start the outside chrome finish and the Chikara logo...
