Show us your Four Piece Kits.

I also like 13 inch hats. I play the K Custom Hybrid's, 13 1/4.

They're sure not rock hats, but in spite of that I've found them to be really versatile. And they have a very nice and pronounced "chick." They also foot-splash beautifully.

The foot splash is the thing that I like most about them. They cut through the mix like none other that I have ever played. The bell is a bit weak though! Can't have everything I guess. The bell on the 14 1/4 Hybrids is a bit better. I may get a pair of them soon.

UPDATE FEB 2 2011
For one I've lost 80lbs.! It's a long story haha.
The bass drum now has calfhide heads
I've temporarily switched the Gold Sparkle snare out for my new (new to me) Champagne Sparkle Gretsch 125yr Anniversary 14x4.5.......and it's a beauty!

1958 Gretsch 4pc

Before and after restoration Okay - I added a snare drum here and there - but essentially it's a 4pc and that's the way I like to play it most of the time.

Nice roundies Kona! Looks like a great refurb job as well!

Here is an old Tama Rockstar I picked up from a recording studio in Dallas earlier this year. I wanted another kit with larger toms and deeper punch to add to the bottom end sound of our 4 piece group whenever we gigged out. This seems to have worked well since 1) it was used and already had scratches and dings and, 2) the price was cheap $275.00. 3) I liked the color. This are the before pictures:

Not sure! Ha! I want to replace the kick hoops with 2" black stained hoops and replace the rims with black 2.3 triple flanged ones and the heads have got to be replaced. Um...not much of "after" pics then are they? Oh well... It sounds loud and proud and is already worn so I won't mind the scratches and dings and spilled beer as long as they don't alter the sound. And the chicks love the color - dark green. And as add-ons I've found a pair of old black rockstar toms 8 x 8 and 10 x 10 to give it a custom "fusion" sound if I want it. And the overall look of the kit will be dark green and black.

Alright then man.. Sounds great!

I have posted this in my own thread before, thought I'd throw it on here.

1953 Round Badge rescued from a curbside near my home. Thats right, shells stamped October 19, 1953 and the guy sat them out for the trash collectors. Some people have no respect.

Great googley-moogley!

What a find!!!!! Trash? Me thinks NOT!

you are too kind. when they were rescued they still had original calfskin heads. the floor tom is not gretsch, but is actually a slingerland radio king from the same era. all i have done is put a little polish on the shells and new heads. the snare is my chrome over brass leedy. sizes are 22x16, 13x10, 16x16, and 14x5.5

I can't believe you just found these on the side of the street. What an awsome find, bet they sound pretty good right?
