Jimmy Page and Jaco Pastorious (1985)

Do we know for sure that it's Jaco and Jimmy? Sweet playing, whomever it is.

No idea what Jaco's voice sounds like, but if it's him, then it's Page. He "announces" him several times there. Certainly sounds like JP to me at any rate. Haven't heard it before though either, which is surprising for a hardcore 'Page-o-phile'

Great links.

this Zep Head is pretty shure it's Page. i don't know enough about Jaco to be sure.

any Jaco heads care to verify ?

That's got to be Page. Again, not sufficiently familiar with Jaco to tell about him.

I've mostly heard Jaco playing fusion and jazz. The only vocals I've heard from Jaco is his falsetto scatting in Birdland. Whatever, the bass playing is very good.

...

Fannie Mae is a tune he used to sing very often. The voice sounds somewhat like him but cant be sure.. I doubt it.

I am a Jaco - head. I've played bass for 30+ years.

Whilst the overdriven sound isn't particularly Jaco.

The walking bass line has nothing in it that is Jaco-ey.

Could be fretted or fretless from the recording.

Jaco would have solo'd at any opportunity but this player is very much playing an accompanying role. Including tacet!!!

Plus the announcer would have mention Jaco surely?

I would say at least there is considerable doubt frankly.

There were no real solo's or any interplay or trademark harmonics and chords.

If pressed I would say this wasn't Jaco.
