Are those ArtStars or SuperStars? I should know by the lug, but it's been years since i had my SuperStars, and I can't quite remember anymore.
Thanks for the reply Super Phil.
I have looked at a bunch of still photos and watched the video you mentioned. The thing is that before I commit to investing in the materials and putting something together, I need to be sure about how this can be done with some accuracy.

I figured that I am not the only drumming "Rush-Head" out there who has thought of this.
In regards to your question.....
They are Birch Tama Superstar SL Customs. I was fortunate to get these for two reasons and some extra $.
1.) This was the last kit of this series to be made because Tama, at the time, was switching stuff over to build the "Hyper-drive line".
2.) The only way I was going to get this kit the way I wanted it was through a 3-way phone conversation with a TAMA rep. and a dealer. I was specific with tom sizes (plys & dimensions) and my insistence on birch as a wood type, so with extra money and the timing of the end of this line, TAMA was willing to accommodate. The hard part was waiting for each drum to arrive over the span of 9 months. This was because they had re-calibrate the machines and make some different adjustments as was explained to me by the TAMA rep.
I chose all birch over maple simply because I personally love the sound. Big and resonate. By the by, this kit sounds awesome still and the snare has very little ring with no muffling. In fact as well, I believe that these drums are so easy to tune because of the attention to detail when they were built.
Tama has given me my money's worth.
Thanks again Phil.
