Some? Gee, thanks!

A lot of fun doing these, and a lot of work invested (during an already busy touring schedule) to just play them once. A few are deliberately different/faster, per Al. I argued that Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away" would be more appropriate at the Surf Ballroom than the Knack's Bo-Diddley version, but it's what he wanted. I suspect that Buddy, Doug Fieger and Bruce Gary were all spinning in their graves! And we raced through "Classical Gas" - per Al - and in front of composer Mason Williams! "Funeral For A Friend" suffered the same fate, fortunately, Elton was miles away.

Full versions and entire concerts will be available at www.stitcher.com on June 24.

Iíve heard you play live and always at a great level, but I could hear something special in some of these.

That was great, like an extended polka party almost. Whom ever spliced all those tunes together did a spectacular job. It was fairly seamless.

So I gotta know, did y'all just pick a song between shows and just learn it, or already have it in your repetoir? Some are pretty simple, like the Ramones tunes, but others like Elton John are pretty intricate.

This was like listening to a 27-minute ad for a mid-80's compilation three-cassette "Best Of" set. Awesome work!

Thanks, Al put that together partly for fun, but mostly as a sampler to promote the live show streaming at Stitcher (they wouldn't have been quite as creative if left with the task.)

Most of the songs were chosen last summer, and were even assigned dates. The list was finalized by November, well in advance of the start of the tour, with only one song being added after that.

Here's the list:

Smoke On The Water
Blue Suede Shoes
I Saw Her Standing There
Johnny B. Goode
Doo Wah Diddy Diddy
Dirty Water
Honky Tonk Women
Tutti Frutti
Wipeout (in four keys at once)
All Day and All of the Night
Should I Stay Or Should I Go?
Blister In The Sun
Uncontrollable Urge
867-5309/Jenny
Psycho Killer
Hello There
Refugee
Close to You
Cinnamon Girl
Saturday Nights Alright For Fighting
Play That Funky Music
Free Bird
China Grove
Rebel Yell
Stuck In The Middle With You
The Accordion Boogie
Are You Gonna Be My Girl
All Star
Squeeze Box
Beat On The Brat
Last Train To Clarksville
Beer Barrel Polka
Breakdown
What I Like About You
We're An American Band
Peaches
It's Only Rock 'n Roll
Gimme Some Lovin'
Glad All Over
Sunshine of Your Love
Particle Man
Land Of 1000 Dances
Crocodile Rock
Viva Las Vegas
Fire And Rain
Werewolves Of London
I Wanna Be Sedated
It's The End Of The World As We Know It
Born To Be Wild
Vertigo
You Really Got Me
Sweet Home Alabama
Suffragette City
Mama Told Me Not to Come
Radio Radio
Girl U Want
This Is A Call
I'm Down
The Elements
Funeral For A Friend
(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman
God Save The Queen
No Matter What
Classical Gas
Rock and Roll
Funk #49
Good Lovin'
Foxy Lady
Aqualung
Hard To Handle
All Right Now
Summer Nights
Magic Carpet Ride
Rebel Rebel
Take The Money And Run
Takin' It To The Streets
Not Fade Away
School's Out

I had a hand in suggesting/nixing certain songs, 18-20 on this list are mine. :)

There are audience vids of most of the songs, with varying (typically poor) quality.

Here's Wipeout - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9NwcJC_2p4

It actually doesn't sound as bad as intended, the real mix should be more revealing though! :)

I was really worried Al's solo on I Wanna Be Sedated was going to fall apart.

The intros were great.

It seems as if every video I watch to see YOU play I'm always looking at Al.

I know he's the boss, but kindly tell him to get the hell out of the way!! :-)

I'll be sure to check out Stitcher in the coming days for the full versions.

BTW, I'm glad you made to New Mexico. Sadly, I never knew.

Wait. I thought Al Yankovic blew his brains out in the late 80's after people stopped buying his records.

I'm still going to pretend that you went back stage, picked the first song that came up on Pandora, and then played it perfectly without any planning, rehearsal, or preparation because the band is just that good. Seriously, though, I assume the point of this was to show off the band and treat the fans who recognize a great band that's been together for decades.

My only complaint was that my view of the drums was blocked at both shows I attended.
