Hello, I'm a drum teacher from Australia.
Question:
I use Sibelius to write a lot of drum music out but i can't get it to look as neat and grouped correctly as Terry Branam. Please tell what software and/or the process he uses to make the drum transcriptions on drummerworld.com

Would be very much appreciated!!

Re: What does Terry branam use to transcibe drums

My problem is simple. Ill explain the process of writing out a groove for example:
1. I start with 8th notes on the hihat (visually grouped apart evenly from one another)
2. I then obviously start adding 8th note and 16th notes to the kick and snare to create the groove.

Problem:
If beat 1 as more kick and snares than beat 2 for example the space between the hats on beat 1 become further apart than beat 2. I know this is an automatic feature but if the program is going to lengthen the gap (visually) between the hats on beat 1 it should have the same space for beat 2

Anyone know what im talking about.

When the bar is uneven (lenght between each beat) its harder for my students to read

I think that there is some software that you download which slows mp3s down. Makes them easier to transcribe...

There are several free progs, e.g. Amazing Slow Downer.

I can recommend Transcribe! (I paid 50 bucks or so), it can do way more than just slowing down (speed change in both directions, pitch change in both directions regardless of the playing speed, and a lot more):
