Tommy Igoe's Birdland Big Band

He has decided to leave NY and go on tour. His second stop was thirty minutes from my house this past Sunday. I would not plug this type of music in my ipod, but I have to admit this was one of the best musical perfomances I have seen. If he comes close to your area, I suggest you go see it. Well worth it.

Just for clarification, he took the San Fransisco band members, not the BBB.

Are they touring under the name BBB?

Yes. Most of the members are from the Birdland Big Band NY.

The guy is tall. I'm 5' 10.

I saw Mr. Igoe and the BBB at Birdland in NYC this past September. The show was unbelievable and the room is so small you can practically hi-five the musicians. The band even takes requests for their second set via an online form which I thought was really cool. I can not recommend this experience more highly to my fellow drummers or really anyone who breathes. I was walking on a cloud for the rest of that night trying to process what I had just taken in.

Also, after the show, he signed my groove essentials book and made small talk with me and my wife for a few minutes. What a nice guy.

And, he mentioned to me that he will be offering skype lessons starting in 2013 too.
