Beats to play without cymbals?

So, on April 4th I bring my birthday present to myself home ( http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/showpost.php?p=810182&postcount=34 )

I will have to wait another month or so for me to afford a set of cymbals...

It will kill me to have this baby sitting there without cymbals for a month and not being able to play it.

However, the music store guy said jokingly I should practice some "jungle" beats.

Well, can I? What can I do without cymbals for a month? can anyone point me to some charts of rythyms I can practice that don't use cymbals?

I would hang up a cowbell and ride it like it owed me money.

Several of Peter Gabriel's early solo albums were recorded with no cymbals.

The 1980's pop song "I Want Candy" was recorded with no cymbals.

Lots of songs make use of riding on the floor tom instead of the cymbals.

It can be done.

There are a lot of things you can do w/o cymbals. Before the last practice with my band I had all of my cymbals off because I had taken them home to clean. Before putting them back on I jammed out for awhile without them. I must say it was kind of fun! It made me experiment around the kit in ways that I really never did before.
Be creative and have fun with your new kit!

Tom solos are epic and fun, they're what I play when I just want to have some fun.

i ALSO love to ride on the floor tom. Just experiment and see what you can do.
