Tama ML12 Boom Arm Memory Locks Work on Any Boom

Just thought I'd share.

As a gigging drummer, I am a stickler for memory locking everything for faster setups. I have some Gibraltar and Tama cymbal booms that have no memory lock cutouts, and while hose clamps "remember" height adjustments, they do nothing for rotation position. I got a few of the Tama locks, which obviously work great on Tama 12mm boom rods, and discovered they work great on 12.7mm rods, as well, with one caveat. The 3/4" screw that comes with the lock is a wee bit short to reach the nut on the lock when used on 12.7mm rods. You need a 1" screw. Luckily for me, I have two Gibraltar HML34 memory locks I don't use, and their screws are 1", so I used them and Voila!

You can also get Phillips 1" screws from a hardware store, if you don't have any 1" drum key screws.

What I really like about the Tama locks is that they have an arch shape, so they "remember" rotational and length positions. They are also cheap. ;-)
