ZickosDrummer has passed away

Found out on another forum. He was active here. I bought a nice Instanbul China from him around Christmas last year. Was a good guy.

RIP ZD

Drum on, brother. Drum on

Hi -
This is Gyan, Maurice's wife. He's known as Zickosdrummer on this forum.
Sad to tell you this news, but he passed away last week. His cancer had returned again, and he was diagnosed as terminal last December...that's why he was so eager to sell things - needed to get them out of the house so I wouldn't have to mess with them after he passed on, and needed the $$$ for all things medically related.
Anyway, he would spend hours on this site, and he enjoyed it so much!
I would appreciate it if you would make a post that he is no longer with us. He's probably playing drums with the Big Bands of long ago!
His name was Maurice Galoob, and below is his obituary. Thank you.

לברכה זיכרונו
May his memory be a blessing

Maurice Galoob, died on May 5, 2017 at his home
in Norman, Oklahoma, after a long illness. He
was born on November 19, 1946 in Ardmore to
Henry and June Galoob. He grew up in Healdton,
where he was a drum major in the marching band.
Maurice attended college at the University of
Oklahoma, where he earned his degree in music
education and met the love of his life--his wife
Gyan--in the Pride of Oklahoma. Through over
46 years of marriage, Maurice and Gyan built a
home full of love and music. For many years,
they co-owned and operated The Candy Basket,
a beloved candy and gift store in Norman. His
passion for teaching, evident in all his deeds,
was transmitted to his sons, both of whom are
educators in Tulsa. Maurice is survived by his
wife, Gyan Summers Galoob; his son Dr. Stephen
Galoob and wife Mindy Roe Galoob, of Tulsa;
his son David Galoob and wife Brittany Hayes,
of Tulsa; his grandchildren, Samuel and Isaac
Galoob; his siblings Dr. Harry Galoob and wife
Lynda (of Ardmore, OK), Stephanie Baker and
husband Ernie (of Ardmore, OK), and Michell
Brown and husband Bennett (of Phoenix, AZ);
and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Feels like I've just been socked in the guts.

Thank you for the news, Blisco.

I enjoyed private conversation with Maurice, numerous times over the past several weeks.

Suffer no more my friend.

Re: ZickosDrummer has passed away

Oh man,

I could tell something was wrong when he was trying to desperately sell his beloved drum kit in the classifieds section. :(

It's my understanding the kit sold and is now in the care of a good home.

Re: ZickosDrummer has passed away

Sorry to hear.

I didn't directly cross paths with him too often, but he was always willing to throw his bit in here and I respected him for his experience and his desire to share it. A valued member who'll be missed.

Re: ZickosDrummer has passed away

Well, that fucking sucks.

Weird how we can "know" people so well without ever meeting them or even physically sharing anything.
