New Batter Head

I decided to try a new batter head on my Steambent snare and while digging thru my collection I decided to try this one. An Evans EC2 SST clear tom head. I thought with the built in muffling rings I may get a unique sound. What I got was a dry, crisp, staccato sound. The drum itself has a bit of ring to it but the snare sound to me is great. Being clear it doesn't lend itself to much brush playing, but if you want crack, cross stick sound and defined double stroke roll sound, give one a try. Before you spend the money though give mine a listen. Enjoy.

Yours sounds great. I tried an EC2 on my Vistalite snare and it sounded dead and had no stick rebound/response. I changed it for a Remo Black satin single ply and it sounds so much better. Great that you found a head you like on the snare!

That sounds quite good. I wouldn't have even thought to try that head on the snare. Nice thinking, GD!
