When I need one I usually have none. When I don't need one, I can't move for the buggers....

I must have 6 or 7 but they always disappear, I can find one at the moment .. I end up buying new ones then finding the old ones.

They're a bit like socks.

7-8?

I love the Tama drum hammer that comes with the pedals and the Pearl keys. I have 4 pearl keys and 3 drum hammers plus some others that I don't really like much.

Whenever I need my drums tuned, I just open the crate and tell Larry to do it. I guess that makes the key to the padlock my drum key.

Prety funny man. Hey at least you trust me with your drums. You know Phil, I don't mind the cut. Have at me. I'm just so damn glad to see you man. You were freaking me out.

I have a bunch of generic ones floating around, one on my key ring just in case (never know)... and two main ones that stay in my stick bag: my holy grail of keys, a Ludwig Sta-Set 4-way vintage key with wingnut twister, hex bolt wrench and flat tip screwdriver; and also a quick-turn z-type key for head changes.

I got 2 that I know about and some somewhere.

Both Tama and they come with Iron Cobra pedals attached so pretty handy except it is not attached to the cheaper pedals. I got an older rolling glide and a hp 200 I think so one key is loose.

But with a Tama tension watch the drums stay in tune longer so tuning is not often needed.

I changed heads on lot of my snares this weekend and had some of the keys that come with the Roland pads around. They're really long which is great as you can finger tighten with them like those that come with Protean snare, just on the underside of the wings instead, so I have come to a conclusion that this is all I need.

2 Rolands for head changes and a few regular small DWs in car, pocket, stickbag etc.......

Fancy drum keys are fluff. lol

When I'm not at a gig, I have so many that I'm tripping over them. When I'm on my way to a gig, or need to tune something I have zero.

Stick to drumming, don't try any stand-up!

How many drummers does it take to tune a fish?

Keys:
an Evans drill mount key
an Evans torque key
two Evans magnetic
an Evans key chain drum key
a Tama "hammer" key
a DW key
the key that came with my 50th Anniversary Pearl Snare drum
the key that came with my Stanton Moore pandeiro, only fits the pandeiro
several Yamaha keys....maybe 4?

I have exactly one drum key, and it's only because the sales guy grabbed it from a box behind the counter and told me that he would like for me to have it. As I reached out and took the polished silver key from his hand, my fingertips brushed against his palm, and we exchanged knowing glances. We knew, deep down, that I now owned drums. He'll always be my first (drum salesman).

I have between fifty five and sixty thousand drum keys, but never use the one clipped to the plate of my BD pedal, always forget its even there.

ROBO key is my fav gig key, because its always easy to find.

Hahaa, glad you guys can enjoy a bit of melodrama. As a writer, it's fun to be silly and mindless once in a while. I promise I wouldn't actually write anything so cliche. :D

As a reader, I promise I wouldn't actually read anything so cliche, but that was so sensitively and tenderly described, that I was hooked from beginning to end.

Have you lost the key yet?

I should have mentioned this one. Without the bit the chucks is the perfect size to quickly remove lug screws. Loosen first, then apply speed. Not for tightening. *the writer assumes no responsibility for damaged drums due to over tightening of lug screws using a powered devise.

a lot. But my favorites are my two large DW keys that came with my 9000 series hi-hats. But several cymbal stands came with small keys too, so they stacked up around here plus a few I had from years ago. The answer is, I don't know how many.

I have but one key. I call it "Success". But it's a sweet key. Just remember don't drink and drive. It's an old kit-hence the key otherwise it'd be push button. Hey I think I just discovered the Key hole drum port-it'll be a new fad-who needs a circle when you can have a key hole? It will be the "key" to everyone's "success".

With an evasive smile, I dropped the smooth silver key into my skirt pocket. I felt the weight of the metal bouncing against my hip as I walked to my car, and I thought about the curious exchange. I knew there was a missing piece to the puzzle. There was something more to it; something that I didn’t yet understand. Did the key symbolize something? I thought of the possibilities and felt myself blushing. The tingling sensation started on my neck, then crept upwards to my cheeks. Was DrumSalesGuy trying to tell me the key meant we were bound in some way, or was he trying to tell me I should watch a couple of YouTube videos and try to tune my new drums?
