CB700 floor tom to bass drum conversion

Hi all,
I am converting a 16" CB700 floor tom (of unknown age) into a little bass drum for gigging around town. The conversion I'm doing includes wood hoops and bass drum claws, necessitating longer tension rods. Unfortunately I've been unable to find anything long enough that matches the thread pattern.

Any ideas for what tension rods will be compatible? (I need probably 4-4.5 inch rods)

Have you looked up Precision Drum Co., Drummaker.com or Drum Foundry (to name a few)? They can do bass drum length tension rods and claw and so on. The only non-standard thread I'm aware of when it comes to tension rods is Drum Workshop's "True-Pitch" rods which are a 10-30 screw instead of the standard 12-24 most other companies use.

I remember having this problem with my first no-name kit back in my early days. We ended up changing the lug inserts over to the standard size. You should be able to buy inserts many places online...
