Rocket Shells drums

im considering buying a used set of Rocket Shells drums (3 pieces: 9x13 rack, 14x16 floor tom, and 18x22 kick). They are 4 years old in "good" shape with some scratches, scuffs, etc. The person selling is asking for 1100$ - he said that brand new these pieces cost over $6,000.00 . I tried to look at comparable prices through ebay and musiciansfriend but was unable to come up with any listings.

so...do you guys think this is a fair/good price for a used 3 piece Rocket Shells kit?

If those are the carbon fiber drum shells, yes, that's a pretty good deal. That carbon fiber stuff is "very expensive".

Yes, they are expensive, but not that expensive.
www.aitwood.com took the pricing off their website and just says call for pricing now, bvut three years ago I priced a set for the shells with tube lugs and all cutting and drilling (done at AIT prior to shipment) for around $3500 before shipping.
I think the bass alone was $1600 just for the shell (22 x 20).
The dimensions for the toms I priced are the same that you listed.

That being said, if you can go hear them, and you like it, $1100 is still a good price.
