Hi,
I was recently tuning my snare drum and I never really paid any attention to my bearing edges because I simply don't really know what difference they make to your sound. But I was tuning my 13x3.5 snare and I noticed that it's bearing edge isn't nearly as sharp as my 14x6.5. In fact, I even have the feeling that one half of the bottom bearing edge isn't even as sharp as the other half. It looks as if it's resting on two/three plies on a certain point instead of one. It looks flattned out.
I bought it second hand in a drumshop and I must say that it's sound is still pretty good, so how bad is this, and what am I supposed to do?
Does anyone know of a place here in the Netherlands that repairs bearing edges?
Or should I go back to the shop and form a complaint?
