Less difference in BDs with the smaller sizes, but more on snares. Brooklyn FT is lower again, so certainly wasn’t an anomaly with the first video. I feel the Broadkaster shines in these sizes. Still good with taking any or all home!

Great work and looking forward to video 3! :)

Excellent video. I have the USA Custom bop kit in the same finish, and I'm please to say it was my favorite out of all three. All good though. I should probably get a coated Powerstroke 3 bass batter instead of the Weatherking Ambassador that i have with moon gel on it!

I watched this last night. I really liked everything about the Broadkaster. Solid, vocal, not too much res. I'm a middle of the road guy when it comes to resonance. I would not kick the other 2 out of bed though.

I just can't relate to those little bass drums. Maybe they could call them baritone drums or foot toms? I'll wait for the big boy demos.

Gretsch is doing a great job offering a nice selection of that great sound, just with different tonal characteristics.
USA - The most recent standard for almost 60 years. A perfect balance of tone.
Broadkaster- Poplar and rounded edges, warmer, and a touch shorter.
Brooklyn- A bit brighter and open, but still nicely focused, Gretsch’y

Somebody is doing a nice job of developing and marketing these lines with their slightly different tonal options for different drummers ears, and on a smart and highly refined level.

Thank you, sir. I don't know about "smart", but we certainly try hard!

Well put. Hard to go wrong with any of them. Great job by DCP on the videos.

These drums all sound great, but I think we are kidding ourselves to say there is a meaningful difference in sound among them. Yes, when isolated, you can hear subtle differences, but in a live venue or even just playing with headphones on, I don't believe there is a meaningful difference; at least when they are all tuned the same. Maybe one will sound noticeably better at low or high tunings than the others.
I think our preference in quality drums is as much emotional as musical. I recently sold a high end Ludwig kit and bought a mid-line DW kit. Both kits sound great; I actually think the Ludwigs sounded a bit better, but for some strange reason, I enjoy playing the DWs more. Go figure.

I get excited every time I get a notification that Drum Center of Porstmouth has posted a new video. I like how much effort is made to give us a solid comparison between the different drums, from tuning them as close as possible to letting us hear the different mic perspectives. Great stuff.

For what it's worth, I found the Brooklyn 302 hoops seem to provide less stable tuning than expected. I replaced the batter head hoops with Gretsch USA die cast hoops and stability was restored with no degradation of sound quality/tone as far as I can tell.

Wouldn't that be a function of the lug screws to stay tuned and not the hoop. whatever works .

I follow Gretsch Drums on Twitter and Facebook and every day it seems another drummer is opening his new Broadcaster set.

Just wanted to say I recently purchased a big rock configuration USA Custom set from DCP and the shoot-out videos are very informative and helpful. DCP was great to work with and got the drums to me quickly. I would highly recommend DCP!
