Default Old age creeps up.

I was traveling throught the local grocery and all of the staff there are encouraged to ask "how are you doing, can I help you find something." My normal respnse is, no thanks, have a good day. One young guy instead says, "do you play the drums?" I thought wow, this guy caught me tapping on the cart to whatever tune was in my head. We talked about drumline at the local school and other things, and off I went to finish. Ran into him again and had to ask, "did my tapping on the cart prompt you to ask about drumming?" He said no, it was your Zildjian T-shirt. Finished shopping and headed back to the old age home. Siggghhhh

ROFL "was it my tapping"-"no it was the Zildjian T-shirt" priceless. At least it wasn't from a pair of sticks in your back pocket you forgot about. I spend most of my time now checking to see if my fly is open while in public LOL. That and looking for where I laid my cell phone and coffee up.

I'm entering mid life crisis territory (43) and already can't find my coffee cup in front of me. Or my sunglasses on my face. Just spent 5 minutes of my lunch break searching for car keys that were in my pocket. Please tell me it won't get much worse.

My grandfather once lost his car in a parking lot. For 3 hours.

At least you still know where it is. ;-)

I asked my Dad for some tips on growing old. He said that most people will lose two things if they live long enough - one is their memory, and he couldn't remember the other one.

I was quick. When I said was my tapping how you knew I was a drummer, he looked down, and I said, or my shirt. Quick recovery. He didn't know. Was leaving the doctors office one day and one of the reception ladies told me my shirt was inside out. I told her my girlfriends husband came home early, and I had to split. Left them laughing.

This is a timely thread. Get up make coffee, turn on news to channel surf to see if ignoring all the opinion I can filter out some news LOL. Suddenly I'm hearing this noise-I'm like hmmm. Even with hearing aids I can't discriminate where sound comes from so it's like being in the dark trying to find it. Turn down volume of TV-yep some weird noise is it fridge-these new ones make funky noises. Nope. I look on main floor-nothing. Go upstairs nothing, Then basement nothing back to main floor still "the noise" . I'm standing thinking I wish I could hear like my youth-then a bladder spasm time to go. Off to half bath-it's beside the laundry room. Then I remember, as I should have mentioned earlier in thread (but forgot), I started a load of laundry while making coffee. The washing machine culprit. Crap!!!!!!!. I remember watching my Dad age-teased him about it-now son-in-law teases me. I tell him as my Dad me-don't under estimate "Old man power" that defies human physiology and the laws of physics and "cut bad on ya". ROFL

My Dad used to say "It's hell growing old! You young folks couldn't handle it!"

Little did I know....

Woke up this morning (no, not a blues song) with my back and knees killing me. I can only assume that it's from standing at an odd angle repairing a toilet last night. Also seem to have developed a crick in my neck. I need a massage or a chiropractor...

He used to also say "If you're over 50 and wake up without something hurting, you're dead!"

I had a friend who told me a story about when his Dad got a new flat screen TV.

So the Dad was installing it and trying to get it to function correctly. The TV was driving him insane because it seemed like it had a mind of it's own, changing channels and displaying menus without any apparent knob turning or button pushing. The Dad freaked out a little bit and got in a bad mood over it.

Here my friend and his Mom were in the kitchen with the remote, pushing buttons, deliberately trying to prank the Dad. Mean, but funny. Taking advantage of a persons mood when they are trying to do something nice for the family.

The Dad was old, that's the tie-in :)

I fought aging but now embrace it-as long as I'm growing old I'm at least not dead. Silver lining ;) In fact I'm taking up daring feats with high risk so I can beat dying of age related factors. See I can beat dying of old age-I'll probably die flying into a tree in my wing-suit-it's brilliant or You think no?

The bad thing about doing daring things for the sake of daring, is, if you don't kill yourself, you live in pain or become a burden to someone else. No thanks.

I already live in pain from all my other daring feats of youth LOL. I was just kidding I'm afraid of heights now-I still get positional vertigo sending me flying all over the place anyways. I can't do roller coasters or any of the fun rides I use to enjoy without spinning violently and wanting to vomit.
