How many 'different types' of metal are there and what's the difference?
I still can't figure out where the hell to stick slipknot....

Can't we just call it Metal and be done with it.
Strangely enough, in this thread so far, there's no mention of symphonic metal, such as Nightwish, Within Temptations or Sirenia, just to name a few, but it's a very popular style of metal, generally with a female lead vocal.

If I use the flow chart I posted above to categorize Slipnot, then yea... Nu Metal is correct
Here's a modest list:

Base metals : a metal that oxidizes easily and reacts with HCL to form hydrogen. ex. iron, zinc, nickel
-Alloys : An alloy is a mixture of two or more elements in solid solution in which the major component is a metal. Ex. brass ( copper+zinc ), steel ( iron +carbon )
-Noble metals : metals that are resistant to corrosion. Ex. Rhodium, platinum
