Default Drum Mic Help

Hey guys,

I was considering purchasing some drum mics for my kit. I was just hoping to get some advice before I buy any. I just need some for micing durning gigs I'm not really looking into recording if that makes a difference. Any tips that would give me a good sound at gigs (brands, techniques, etc.) would be much appreciated!

Default Re: Drum Mic Help

Need a bit more info from you really (budget, how many mics, etc). I use EV PL35's for toms and AKG 112D for kick. I rarely mic my snare but use a PL35 for that too if necessary. I don't usually use overheads unless I'm playing to a 500+ audience. Anything bigger than 500 and we're into hire PA's and their mics. I like PL35's as they're a very transparent mic, very natural & being hypercardoid, their off axis rejection + feedback threshold is very good.
