Default Bought wrong snare head!

So I bought an Evans EC2 clear 14", accidentally , thought it was the "snare reverse dot" version! The shop was out of town for me.

It looks like this head is only used for toms, can anyone advise?

I'd take it back to return but it's too far :(

It won't sound like a coated "regular" snare head, but it should sound like a snare... Some people prefer the sound it will give, actually... I see it in certain genres and with certain drummers.

I have a frosted EC 2 that sounds fantastic on snares, and I've used clear and smooth white batters on plenty of snares before.

I say mount it up and give it a shot.

What music do you play? Ever use brushes?

Playing rock, quite a loud guitar band. My snare is a basic steel (came with pearl forum)

Definitely can still work if you like the sound.

Use it! I have clear black dots on my snares - never do any brush work so don't need the texture. Crank it up and enjoy!

As said above, put it on your snare a try it out. You may like it. Coated snare batter heads are only necessary when using brushes. Peace and goodwill.
