Default Leading Edge?

I've read and heard a little about the leading edge. 45 inside with a 10 out side, 45/45, 30/10. Is there a standard? are these differences a preference? I'm looking for input.
Got any?

If you haven't been able to find out what this means, it's because it's called the bearing edge, and it's the edge of your shell where the drumhead makes contact. Happy googling!

There are many different bearing edge cuts.
There really is no Standard. Different manufacturers cut different edges on different drums that they make.
Custom manufacturers will cut just about anything that you want.
45 and 30 are common.
Some drums have rounded edges.
Different cuts give the drum different sound and amount of sustain.

here is some good reading. http://physics.illinois.edu/undergra...3/Macaulay.pdf
I kind of like old drums:)
