Transcription Apps

Hey Everybody,

I was curious what, if any, software you guys use for help with transcribing? I have just started using the app "The Amazing Slow Downer" and have found it incredibly helpful. Does anyone have recommendations for other useful apps?

Windows media player works well for me. It transposes the sound up when you slow the track down so you don't get a distorted sludge. But amazing slower downer works well too. They need to come up with a computer notation software that has one of these inbuilt so you don't need to keep flicking through windows.

My usual answer to this question that I must have written here a dozen of times:

Sibelius (now Version 7 which I think is worse than 6 btw)
VLC Media Player

VLC Media Player for two reasons:

1.: It can playback video and audio slower without distorting too badly.
2.: It allows you to sync audio and video by shifting the audio playback back an forth in 10ms steps. This is incredibly helpful to find out stickings from youtube videos, because these vids are always out of sync when you DL them. Even if its only something like 30-50ms this is already enough to make figuring out stickings a nightmare.

Of course good headphones are a nice tool too.
