Default Original tunes w/ live drums (videos)

Hey folks! Been a minute. One of the community members suggested I start a thread to continue posting vids of original tunes, so here's a new song I wrote and a new threadó enjoy!

Listened to the first - quite the epic. It reminds me of Godley & Creme (I used to have their L album). The harmonies are pretty amazing, at times a bit like 10CC and Beach Boys to my ear.

I like the raw edge to your drum and cymbal sounds too - refreshing.

Thanks Anon! That's some awesome feedback - really appreciate it. I'll have to check out some of those 70's bands, haven't heard much of them before :)

The drum sound is currently coming just a single omni-directional condenser built in a shotgun shell (from 12 gauge microphones)... I was messing around with close mic'ing the snare and kick for while with that but I do kind of like the raw single mic sound.... Thanks again!

Ah that's right it was you oldskool! There are these other "5 in 5" ones that come up, and all in all it does make sense just to post subsequent vids of original music in one, thread, so thanks for the suggestion. And thanks!

Re-starting the thread as I'm back in another challenge... here's a new tune with a drum and bass vibe called "Soar"

Thanks again OSS!

That's a great tune (listening now)! Definitely not an intentional reference to that one :)

It's just another 5 in 5 challenge, the idea being to write 5 songs in 5 days... and share them with the facebook group! It's always a good time, and lots of great writers on there.

Absolutely brilliant stuff. Just listened to all of them. It's kind of like Knower meets Jacob Collier meets Snarky Puppy meets Herbie Hancock meets Campbell Youungblood Petersen :D Great drumming, clever compositions, keys, bass playing and vocals. Real pity you're not getting more likes and subscribes you deserve the recognition mate.

You just named some of my favorite bands/biggest influences, Merlin!

The internet is a weird place, I'm pretty content with just making content even if no one sees it. Obviously it would be nice to have more people engaging with it, but it's kind of a crapshoot. A lot of the stuff that gets recognition is pretty mindless.

That being said, having somebody like yourself listen to the tunes, drop those names, and leave that feedback... that means everything to me. Thanks so much!

Heyo.

Just stopping by to say I enjoyed "soar". That ending part is killer.

Jealous of your ability to play so many instruments. Must be great to be able to so fully express your musical ideas.

Glad you enjoyed Dr. Watso! That ones my favorite too :)

The multi-instrument thing is relatively new, especially bass. I still only feel like I'm "playing" drums, haha. I'd say jump right in if that's of interest to you!
