I thinking of getting these for my new grestch catalina maple, and maybe a Emperor for the snare? Will these by good? Also, will I need to buy resonant heads also or will the stock ones be fine?

Coated G2s will sound great--they will bring out warmer frequencies than clear heads, which bring out more of the attack sound of the sticks hitting the heads. I'd go for a coated ambassador or coated G1 for the snare, myself...

Don't underestimate the importance of a quality resonant head. It's the one that...well...resonates.

I've been using coated G2s over clear G1s on two kits for a while now and they sound and wear great.

One of the favorite combos here on DW.
