OT: Feeling Fortunate Today

Came home from work today and let my girlfriend know that I got laid-off from my job today. I was feeling pretty bummed until she told me that her brother and sister both lost their homes to a wild fire in Fort Mc Murray, Alberta today. They were given half an hour to grab what they could and evacuate. Her brother's wife said flames were swirling around her car as she raced to get out of the subdivision they lived in while her kids were screaming hysterically in the back seat. Thankfully everyone from both families are safe and sound.

I just heard a report on NPR about the fire and the sudden evacuation. Glad to hear they made it out. And hopefully things will work out for you.
