Default Hip Replacement Issues

Anyone had experienced a hip implant replacement before? My mom just turned 65 and she's planning to have one due to osteoarthritis. She's been suffering from this pain for quite some time now and decided to have a total hip replacement. But I read this article from Depuy Pinnacle Hip Lawsuits, and states that "Researchers have discovered that the DePuy Pinnacle Hip Replacement might cause life-threatening side effects.". Any ideas and suggestions will greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Donna Cole

I had my right hip replaced in Nov., 2011, and my left hip replaced Mar., 2012. I think I'm the only cat on this forum to go down this road. The thread is here ... http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/s...ht=hip+surgery As far as all that lawsuit mumbo-jumbo, talk to your surgeon. He's the guy "in the know".
Now, as far as this Depuy (Johnson & Johnson) thing, it's kinda "old" news. The recall was in 2010. Issues started in 2008. Far as I know, it's simply past history.

I work at a hospital that uses plenty of DePuy products. I have only seen the
TV ad for the ambulance chasers and DePuy. There are other manufacturers of these products so you need to find a hospital or surgeon that won't use Depuy if that is a concern. That article is clearly an ad for such a law firm. Do some more research and see what you can find. i'm sure Depuy would have corrected any flaws if they wish to stay in the business.

Hip replacement surgery is one of the most successfull surgeries known to man. The issue that has been associated with Depuy's total hip implants is not unique to DePuy. They have been singled out by the ambulance chasers because they are a Johnson & Johnson company and obviously have very deep pockets. Any company that manufactured and sold a metal on metal implant has risk exposure due to potential metal ion release into the blood, which BTW, has questionable evidence behind it as to whether the levels released into the bloodstream due to metal wear from total hip implants is harmful. Certainly potentially harmful to women of child bearing age.

Anyway, if you need it.....don't shy away from it. Outstanding long term clinical results. Just find a doc that does a high volume and follow post operative instructions.

this is just base on what i had research about the topic. hip replacement has many complainants due to the defective hip devices from depuy and many were seeking for legal counsel to pile up and claim their entitled compensation. Increasing number of victims has been reported from depuy hip lawsuit with different cases.
