Cowbell mount-- what do you use?

Hey Crew,

I have been experimenting around with where the best place to mount my cowbell from, and where, and decided that I'd just weld one up that attaches to my hi-hat stand.

It's big and gangly looking, but swivels 180%, and has about 10" up-and-down travel to adjust all over the place. Works great!

Please post pics of how you mount your cowbells, as I need input as to how I might need to further modify or adjust mine. I play cowbell usually on my left side.

Cheers,
C. P.

I mount mine right on top of my bass drum.

LP326 Bass drum mount. Kind of overkill for smaller bells though.

I mount the bell on my hat stand rod just above the Cymbals. Its pretty nice. The CowBell is now always in reach. Its kinda a cheap, ghetto-rig but, it works.

I use the gon bops/dw cowbell mount. I like it because you can adjust the angle and put the mount anywhere on the bass drum hoop. I have mine close to the left so I can bring my ride in closer. It is rock solid.

i use a meinl mount perfect dont like bass hoop mounts.

there too the right exactly where chad smith put his :D i put it there and realised later so whenever i have it up it goes there i like it

Where did you buy this from mcbike , who's got them in stock ( just the mount, not the bell & mount)?

From DW: (Great they develop a good product, but you can't buy it anywhere. Looks like the cowbell/mount package is a good deal from MF)

I cut the shaft off of an old cymbal stand top and I mounted it into my antique Rogers rack tom holder. I mount my cowbell like this. I can adjust the angle just like I adjust the angle of a cymbal on a stand.

Hey Crew,

WOW, what an extremely varied response on cowbell mounts--some left-handed, some right-handed, some middle-of set.
I guess it probably depends on what type of music you play, and how often you use the cowbell. Some good ideas posted for cowbell mounting, but I think I have to stick to keeping mine near the hi-hat, and especially having the wider/higher/lower adjustable mount with my newly "biggiefied" drum set.

Does anyone use more than one cowbells mounted in different areas of their set? (yeah, I ask too many questions, I know...)

Cheers,
C. P.

I'm looking for one too.

Tama clamp

LP clamp

The Tama bass mount will destroy a hoop. There's little space to put protective shims in to prevent this. A nice low profile though, can be cased/bagged if you remove the wing bolt.

Pearl's hoop mount CB holder is nice, but profile to big/high. The DW mount is the shizzle, it debuted at winter NAMM and still isn't available in stores, go figure. Musicians Friend has the DW mont w/cowbell for around $40

I have found that the center of my kit is the best place for my cowbell and jam block. I have had them in different places over the years.
I like to be able to get to them quickly for accents during play. Keeping them near to my cymbals and drums is also a plus. I can work the snare, toms, cymbals, cowbell, and jam block into interesting fill-ins. Personal preference!

I agree; I've used a Tama mount for some time, and not only is it a hoop killer, the vibrations from the kick drum and playing the bell cause the wing nut to loosen. Before you know it, you're in the middle of a song and the bell is lopsided! I usually place the bell to my right on a sturdier mount, which is nice because it frees up my left hand when playing songo patterns (which is mostly what I use the darn thing for anyway!)

LP Rock Ridge Rider. Sometimes I turn it upside down, has a killer tone that way but I don't want to crack it.

I like this...
I'm tired of my cowbell moving all the time and destroying the hoop.

Thanks for the info!

I was at Guitar Center the other day picking up a double bass pedal and they had a cowbell mounted to a single bass pedal. Kinda caught my interest since I just freed up my single pedal. Anyone here use that? Otherwise I'd probably just mount it off my High Hat stand.

I have 2 of these mounts (one on each kit). They do work great.

I had to use a Ludwig (non-diecast) square claw hook to work on my non-rounded hoop, but the curve on the Ludwig claw fits perfectly to the curve of the top section of the clamp.

I don't have to take it off the drum to get the drum in the case which is nice. The whole thing is real solid, and with the memory lock on it, it sets the same every time with a twist of the key--and my hoop isn't getting destroyed by putting on/taking off a mount.

Mine were both ordered (& they got a couple for having "in stock") at my regular drum shop.

The hi-hat mount (for double bass drums) is really nice too.

Good price.

You can mount it on a cymbal stand/arm, or a L-arm tom holder.
At our orchestra we have an old single pedal, and we made a bracket to mount a cowbell on it, but what kind of beater should we use??
