Wow, he starts a at 4:19, then from 4:33, it really just keeps getting more and more intense

really shows how a drummer can really take the ball and run with it, yet complement a soloist at the same time

Amazing

One of Australia's legendary jazz drummers, Allan Browne, whom was also my teacher for a time is one of the greatest players I've ever seen able to push a soloist to incredible heights and intensity. Without seeming to do a lot his, and hence the groups, energy will suddenly increase tenfold and just become so intense as to give you the spine tingles.

Seeing him live is just incredible. Watching him just drop it down, then pick it up instinctively at the right time to the perfect level is mind-blowing.

He's played with all the usual guys like Paul Grabowsky, Johnny Griffin, the Red Onion Jazz Band and all sorts of great groups. He's also able to genre jump inside of jazz as good as anyone. Traditional New Orleans, straight ahead, contemporary, free, swing....
